SLSA – Life Membership – Nancy Joseph (Fairhaven SLSC)

We extend our warmest congratulations to Nancy Joseph who has recently been awarded Honorary Life Membership of Surf Life Saving Australia.

This is a rare and most prestigious honour that nationally recognises Nancy’s long and outstanding contribution to surf life saving. Nancy is the only Fairhaven member ever to be recognised with SLSA Life Membership.

Nancy Joseph joined Fairhaven and gained her Bronze Medallion in 1990. From the outset her ability, enthusiasm and leadership potential were most evident

At club level Nancy is highly regarded as a key person – a natural and popular leader.

Nancy quickly became a patrol captain and displayed strong interest and commitment to the training and development of others. Progressively Nancy took up key club responsibilities including Chief Instructor and Club Captain – roles that she fulfilled tirelessly with aplomb and success.

Alongside her active commitment Nancy also became a valued contributor to club administration.

Vice President, Senior Vice President and Club Secretary were among the numerous roles that Nancy undertook over an extensive period

Throughout her Fairhaven journey Nancy’s highly valued contribution has been recognised with many club awards culminating in Honorary Life Membership in 2007.

Nancy Joseph

Very early in her life saving experience Nancy displayed strong interest and enthusiasm for the broader picture. Keen to contribute at state level, she joined the Board of Examiners in 1994 and then progressively extended her contribution in a broad range of areas including positions on the Board of Competition and Life Saving Development Group. For a lengthy period Nancy served on the LSV Board of Directors with responsibility for Youth and Leadership Development.

In 2011 Nancy’s contribution was further recognised with the Graeme Long Memorial Award as Victorian Volunteer of the Year. In the same year Nancy was recognised at national level with the DHL Australian Volunteer of Year Award.

Nancy is a Life Member of Life Saving Victoria.

As a natural progression, Nancy’s ongoing input to surf life saving extended strongly into the national scene where she continues to undertake a variety of important leadership roles.

At Fairhaven we recognise that Nancy Joseph is a quality person who we are very proud to call our own. Over almost thirty years she has made an outstanding contribution to surf life saving at club, state and national level.

Nancy is a thoroughly deserving recipient of SLSA Life Membership.

Again we extend our warmest congratulations.
