The Lifesaving Operations team is looking for a mechanical engineer to help design a solution to reduce the risk of Fairhaven members injuring themselves while lifting IRB motors.
Currently members as young as 16 lift motors weighing 52kg each up to 1.5m into the air. The risk of back injury is obvious. The Lifesaving Operations team is looking for ways to eliminate this hazard from patrol.
Any member who is appropriately qualified and is interested in helping protect our patrolling members is encouraged to contact Ned Douglas at [email protected] for details.
LSV U18 Leadership Development Camp
Targeting 16 and 17 year old club members, LSV are running a 3 day camp at Angahook Holiday Camp in Airey’s from the afternoon of Friday 30th November through to Sunday 2nd December.
The camp is an opportunity for youth members to develop and enhance their leadership and lifesaving skills, to support their progress through their lifesaving journey. Mentored by some great volunteer leaders from across the state, participants will have the opportunity to learn, share and network with likeminded lifesavers from across the state over a 3-day live in camp.
More information and the registration link can be found in the following LSV circular (pdf).
If you have any questions please get in touch with Liam O’Callaghan at [email protected].
We will be in touch with all members more regularly from now on as the season gets closer.
Please keep an eye on our website and download the Fairhaven SLSC App for more updates.
