After School Nippers

The Term Nippers is really becoming established now in its third round. It started in term one 2016 and continued in term one 2017.

Now with over 20 enthusiastic nippers braving chilly conditions we’ve started the nipper program again in term four this year.

We meet every Thursday at 4pm – in all conditions.

The nippers and parents have enjoyed learning about the club, water conditions, first aid and more, but most importantly they have loved the activities on the sand and in the water. Even on the chilly 12 degree day where the air temp was cooler than the water, there was plenty of fun had.

Thanks to all the parents who have got involved and been hands on to make this happen. Special thanks to Stewart Jacques for his beach games and water activities.

Julia Clarke

Local Primary School

Aireys Inlet Primary School would like to thank Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club for their support at the recent school fair and in providing equipment and water safety for the Local Waterways Learning Experience which took place on the 24th November for grades 4-6.

VicRoads has advised its contractor has completed all painting of the walls, barriers and fencing. It looks good!

Additional landscaping with mature plants also is complete.

VicRoads is continuing to develop a management plan with GORCC and DELWP for the sand dune area, and the lights have also been changed to reduce “glare”.

The Club thanks VicRoads and the subcommittee that’s been working on this project for over two years. Meanwhile, a small band of members is removing windblown sand and wall graffiti as soon as it occurs. They have undertaken to keep the underpass clean year-round. The best way to thank them, is to make sure you use the underpass rather than taking a short cut.
