Surf Boats / Aussies

Fairhaven SLSC achieved some fantastic results at the recent Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.

Fairhaven Hot Catch achieved the great honor of a Gold Medal at the 2021 Aussies. The Ladies crew consisted of Sweep Dave Thompson. Crew, Tracey Holding, Karen Costa, Mardi Spittle, Sam Trask. They raced three excellent races coming from behind in the last two races to clean sweep the field. In doing so they also beat another lower age category crew at the same time. Fantastic effort by all.

Our Mens Crew – Fairhaven Furphys (240 Masters Men) Sweep Dave Thompson. Crew, Francis Pamminger, Peter Jeffery, Michael Heaton Harris, Bob Stewart – managed to finish 5th overall in 240 Masters category which was extremely competitive.

Well done to all involved with special mention to Bob Stewart who towed boat and gear all the way to Alexandra Headlands and back!

U13 LSV Development Camp

Fairhaven SLSC had 3 attendees at the recent U13 LSV Development Camp at Lake Dewar in mid- April.

Nicola Cohen and Grace Mitchell along with Camp Leader – Celina Matlock all proudly represented Fairhaven and had a great time with 63 youth members from 30 other clubs from across Victoria.

The U13 Camp is an opportunity for youth members to develop their interpersonal skills, broaden their understanding of lifesaving and support participants as they progress through their lifesaving journey.

Vale – Frank Costa

Fairhaven SLSC sends its condolences to the entire Costa Family on the recent passing of Frank Costa.

Frank was a much loved and prominent Aireys Inlet identity and many members of his extended family have been members of Fairhaven SLSC over the years.

Frank was instrumental in aiding the club to obtain funding throughout its redevelopment phase and was a regular at the Annual Good Blokes Lunch.

Our thoughts are with his family.

Emergency Services Refurbishment Fund

Fairhaven SLSC is currently undertaking a number of projects around the club with the benefit of State Government funding being distributed by LSV to various clubs.

We are grateful for the funding which was put together in August/September last year as a boost to clubs and a regional COVID stimulus package.

The Committee is busy with a number of projects that we look forward to sharing with you soon!

Best wishes,

Darren West
President – Fairhaven SLSC
