After a very hot spell, I am sure many are looking forward to the soothing waters of the Haven this weekend.
In addition, please keep a couple of dates in your diary:
- Saturday 20 April – FSLSC River Swim
- Sunday 21 April – FSLSC Presentation Night
Our patrol teams have been keeping the beach safe with consistently high numbers right throughout the main summer period.
With about 6 weeks to go before the official end to the patrolling season, please ensure that this trend of steady patrol attendance continues through the quieter part of the season, and that all members endeavour to find a substitute where they are unable to make their rostered dates.
Keep up the fantastic work!
Nipper State Championships
A huge contingent of Fairhaven Nippers competed at Lorne on the 23rd and 24th February with some excellent individual and team results achieved.
Unfortunately, the easterly wind got up on Sunday making conditions at Lorne unsafe for Nippers and a number of events were cancelled.
Despite that, the Fairhaven crew all had a great time over the weekend including a fantastic “home” club dinner at Fairhaven on the Saturday night.
Special congratulations to Darcy Winstanley who won the award for Best Overall Beach Competitor.
Special thanks to those parents who answered the last minute call to gain their officials Accreditation so that Fairhaven could fulfill its quota.
Huge thanks to Kirstin, Robyn and Marcus Marshall, Chloe, Scott and Ed, Sandie Reid as well as all the Age Group Managers, Water Safety and Officials who make it all possible for The Haven to be so well represented at such an event.
Team Haven is already looking forward to next year!
Senior State Championships
A small but determined number of Fairhaven competitors will head to Warrnambool this weekend for the Senior State Championships.
Lead by Chloe Hardman and Dave Thompson, Fairhaven will be well represented in Boats/Beach and Craft events.
Good luck to Team Haven!
Fairhaven SLSC is pleased to announce that we have appointed Kate Lewin as our first Sustainability Officer.
Kate is the mother of 2 U13 Nipper girls – Lily and Pearl – and has had a long involvement with our Nipper program.
She is passionate about the environment and the club is keen to function in a sustainable way that limits our impact on the environment through our everyday activities.
There are a number of initiatives planned which we will announce in due course. We are proud of this appointment as we believe it to be a first amongst LSV clubs and a great opportunity to use our platform and reach to members in a positive way.
