Newsletter – January 23, 2019

Dear Members,

Hard to believe we are rolling towards the end of January! There have been great efforts from Fairhaven members in all aspects of club life and there is plenty of activity planned for what looks like a very hot Australia Day weekend.

A big thanks to all our Active Members for what has been a great patrolling season so far.

The change of calendar to February sees us revert to slightly shorter Patrol hours – please keep attendance up as much as possible and continue to communicate with your Patrol Captain regarding availability and substitutions.

The club performs an amazing voluntary community service and the great reputation of our club is largely related to the diligence, expertise and hard work of our Patrolling members.

Australia Day Function / Club Championships

Fairhaven SLSC Club Champs are scheduled to be held on Sunday 27th January from 9.30am.

All Age groups from U15 through to vintage – swim/board/flags/run – come and join in the fun!

Australia Day @ Fairhaven SLSC

Sunday 27th January from 4pm – the Sunset Bar will be open with meals available and live music.
Come down and celebrate each other and our great country with some good times, vibes and tunes!

  • The Bancooras
  • Chelsea Drugstore
  • The Rank Outsiders

All free and on the best sand dune in the land. All welcome, young and especially old!

Merchandise Shop

Charlie Carter and her wonderful helpers will have our merchandise shop open from 4-6pm on Sunday 27th January – after Club Champs.

We are still in need of a couple of helpers for the shop from 3.30pm-6.30pm so if you are able to assist, please email Nicole at [email protected].

Ladies Luncheon Wrap

Almost 90 of Fairhaven’s ladies attended our 5th Annual Ladies Luncheon last Saturday. A great day was had by all, superb food, wine and conversation. 3 generations of the Leonard/ Dennis family spoke beautifully about their family journey through Fairhaven.

Thanks to Nancy Joseph, Laura Buckley and Tamsin Lawrence for their organisation and passion for this great event. If you missed out this year, please join us next year!

Nipper Carnival – Bancoora – 19 January

Nipper Carnival – Bancoora - 19 January
Nipper Carnival – Bancoora - 19 January

Team Haven was well represented at Bancoora Nipper Carnival last Saturday with over 65 Nippers competing in our colours.

Some fantastic team and individual performances from U8-U14s Haven Nippers, the competition was fierce following the cancellation of Cosy Corner carnival.

The team moves on to Mordialloc Carnival on Sunday 3rd February before the State Titles at Lorne on the weekend of 23-24 February.

A big thanks to all the Age Group managers as well as parents/members acting as officials, water safety, IRB driver and crew, trailer and tent organisers and set up/pack up. A huge job and a big thanks from all of us!

Nipper Carnival – Bancoora 19 January

Travel safe on the long weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the beach for a final swim/drink/patrol/Club champs participation/sunbake or catch up before the joys of January come to an end!

Best wishes,
