Victoria’s first female Life-guard, Carol Fox, presented at the second session of Life Saving Victoria’s Female Leadership Network in early August, 2013.
Carol’s vivacious presentation gave valuable insights into the various communication barriers commonly met when communicating among both genders and how to overcome such boundaries.
Supported by her own factual knowledge and experience, she described many humorous situations with tangible messages underlying.
Her empowering speech gave inspiration to defend the position of women within both professional and home environments as well as in the surf-lifesaving world and society in a broader context.
Carol discussed ways in which she has effectively dealt with difficult situations when her attempts at effective communication have been met with conflict both on and off the beach.
She spoke with humor and empathy, which was met with much appreciation from all women there.
This session was attended by Tamsin Lawerence, Fairhaven VP – Training and Assessment, Sarah Burt, Club Vice Captain and Imogen Dingle, Fairhaven VP – Youth and Leadership Development.
