LSV Female Leadership Network
LSV are pleased to announce a fantastic line up for members/guests to attend Session 20 of the Female Leadership Network – Ground Breakers!
We are all aware of the great success of the inaugural AFLW competition; so why not hear from one of the pioneers of the women’s football, Chyloe Kurdas.
Joining Chyloe will be Fairhaven SLSC patrolling member, Isabel Huntington; who is an elite junior female player and is tipped to do big things in the National Draft! The AFLW has captured the hearts of many and made ground breaking steps forward for females and whilst promoting new opportunities at grass roots level.
The 20th session of the Life Saving Victoria’s Female Leadership Network – Ground Breakers, will feature key presenter and, expert commentator, Chyloe Kurdas; who will share her journey through AFLW – Women’s Australian Football League and her instrumental role in the transfer of women’s football from an amateur to professional league.
Joining Chyloe will be Fairhaven SLSC member Isabel Huntington, who will provide a personal insight into her challenges of playing football and future aspirations to play in the AFLW.
Held at St Kilda Life Saving Club and open to Members, Staff and guests 15 years +, the session will explore the power of persistence, resilience, leadership, overcoming adversity and what is required to make something that you are passionate about become a reality.
KEY NOTE SPEAKERS:
Chyloe Kurdas – Is a former All Australian and Victorian representative, and VWFL Premiership captain with Melbourne University, she spent a decade with AFL Victoria building their community and high performance programs in anticipation of the AFLW competition. She is now an expert commentator and writer with Fox Footy, SEN and ESPN. Chyloe credits being one of the first women to play football on the MCG as one of best days of her life.
Isabel Huntington – (Izzy) Is an active member of Fairhaven SLSC, having joined the club in 2008 at nine years of Age. After completing Nippers, Izzy has gone on to complete multiple awards; Surf Rescue Certificate; Bronze Medallion, First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation Techniques and Spinal Management. Representatives from VicRoads, Surf Coast Shire, GORCC, Fairhaven SLSC and the local community met recently to discuss Underpass paint colour, landscaping and public lighting.
Re-painting in an agreed three-colour palette will hopefully be completed by the end of May and planting of mature Prickly Tea Trees will occur in front of the guard rail on the south side of the Great Ocean Road adjacent to the bus stop.
There is also the possibility of some planting along the north side of the Great Ocean Road in front of the railing.
Most of the lighting has already been replaced, providing improved results and a reduction in light spillage.
Fairhaven SLSC is grateful to all stakeholders for their input and work in achieving the best outcome possible for this valuable community asset.
